Papa Francesco lancia l'allarme per l'aggravarsi della situazione sul confine tra Ucraina e Russia e lancia per mercoledì 26 gennaio una giornata di preghiera per evitare un conflitto che mette in discussione la sicurezza nell'intero Continente europeo

Come nota con esattezza Ennio Remondino, giornalista di razza, nel suo blog di osservazione politica, i fatti sono preoccupanti in Ucraina dove «8.500 soldati Usa in stato di allerta. La Nato invia navi e aerei in Europa dell’Est. Uk e Usa ritirano diplomatici e familiari da Kiev. Il dipartimento di Stato sconsiglia ai cittadini americani di recarsi in Ucraina. Allarme politico in Europa con la Francia che frena sui bellicismi Usa. Le Borse temono la guerra, crollano i listini globali».

Nella distrazione generale e in particolare nell’Italia concentrata sull’elezione del nuovo presidente della Repubblica si alza la voce del papa che nell’Angelus del 23 gennaio 2022 ha detto: «Seguo con preoccupazione l’aumento delle tensioni che minacciano di infliggere un nuovo colpo alla pace in Ucraina e mettono in discussione la sicurezza nel Continente europeo, con ripercussioni ancora più vaste. Faccio un accorato appello a tutte le persone di buona volontà, perché elevino preghiere a Dio onnipotente, affinché ogni azione e iniziativa politica sia al servizio della fratellanza umana, più che di interessi di parte. Chi persegue i propri scopi a danno degli altri, disprezza la propria vocazione di uomo, perché tutti siamo stati creati fratelli. Per questo e con preoccupazione, viste le tensioni attuali, propongo che mercoledì prossimo 26 gennaio sia una giornata di preghiera per la pace».
