“What is the sense of being?” This, in a few words, is man’s most fundamental question. This study intends to investigate this issue from a particular perspective, emerging from texts of Augustine of Hippo and Chiara Lubich. Both find the sense of being in “trinitarian” intersubjectivity. How this is to be understood can best be clarified by examining two basic keywords in both Augustine’s and Chiara Lubich’s life and works: humility and wonder.
