Avrà luogo oggi 16 dicembre 2022 a Johannesburg, in Sudafrica, la conferenza nazionale del Congresso Nazionale Africano, Anc (African National Congress), il più importante partito politico sudafricano, fondato negli anni della lotta all’apartheid e rimasto ininterrottamente al governo del Paese dalla caduta di tale regime, nel 1994, ad oggi. Il partito fu fondato nel 1912 allo scopo di difendere i diritti e le libertà della maggioranza nera della popolazione sudafricana; il nome originario del partito era infatti “South African Native National Congress”.

La conferenza, che si tiene ogni cinque anni, eleggerà la leadership del partito e adotterà le politiche chiave per governare il Paese. Il presidente Cyril Ramaphosa, in carica dal 2018, sta cercando la rielezione come leader del partito.
