Un anniversario importante che punta a dare visibilità a uno dei più grandi ecosistemi naturali quasi intatti rimasti sul pianeta

Il primo marzo del 1872 venne istituito lo Yellowstone National Park, sotto la presidenza Grant, per preservare e proteggere un territorio che per 10 mila anni venne abitato da nativi americani. La ricchezza del paesaggio si esprime con foreste, cascate, sorgenti termali, canyon e animali rari. Poi lo Yellowstone è famoso per contenere il maggior numero di geyser presenti e attivi al mondo, e anche per avere le collezioni più diverse e intatte di ecosistemi naturali e una straordinaria biodiversità.

A partire dal primo marzo il parco ospiterà una vasta gamma di attività per commemorare il 150º, Covid permettendo. Soprattutto si spingerà l’interazione con diverse tribù native per installare nel parco un grande villaggio di teepee vicino al Roosevelt Arch nel mese di agosto. https://www.nps.gov/yell/index.htm (foto Ap)
