Con queste immagini auguriamo un lungo pontificato a papa Francesco, nome scelto in onore del Poverello di Assisi. E riportiamo il messaggio inviato dai vescovi che sintetizzano la portata rivoluzionaria e allo stesso tempo essenziale del papato di Bergoglio:

“Santità,

i Vescovi italiani ricordano con gioia l’ottavo anniversario dalla Sua elezione al soglio pontificio.

Il nostro augurio si fa riconoscenza per il dono della Sua parola, arricchita da segni e iniziative che orientano il cammino delle nostre Chiese verso una nuova tappa evangelizzatrice.

Siamo consapevoli, come Lei ha avuto modo di ricordarci, che «la vita non è tempo che passa, ma tempo di incontro». Con se stessi, con Dio, con gli altri, con gli ultimi.

Questo periodo della storia, segnato dalla pandemia e dai suoi effetti, ci ha tolto la bellezza dello stare insieme, ma ci ha ancora più radicati nella convinzione che nessun uomo si salva da solo.

Con le nostre comunità, La ringraziamo per averci fatto capire che «abbiamo tutti bisogno gli uni degli altri, che nessuno di noi è un’isola, […] che possiamo costruire il futuro solo insieme, senza escludere nessuno».

La ringraziamo per averci insegnato, con gesti concreti, che lo scorrere dei giorni ha senso pieno quando è vissuto per gli altri.

La ringraziamo per il dono della Sua presenza, affettuosa e paterna, nella vita della nostra Chiesa.
