Nell’immaginario collettivo non è uno dei paesi che associamo normalmente alla danza classica: ma anche l’Egitto vanta delle punte di diamante in questa disciplina. A dare un grande impulso è la direttrice dell’Opera del Cairo Erminia Kamel (nella foto), peraltro di origine italiana, vedova del ballerino  Abdel-Moneim Kamel che ha ricostruito la compagnia nel 1990.

La donna ne ha racoclto l’eredità a partire dal 2013; e oggi anche la danza sta diventando per molti strumento di riscatto dopo anni di turbolenze economiche, politiche e sociali. Nelle immagini vediamo momenti sia delle prove che degli spettacoli, a cui partecipano ballerini da tutto il mondo.
